Obituary for Barbara Joyce Waddell

Barbara Joyce Voyles Waddell, 79, entered the heavenly gates to spend Christmas with her Savior on Monday afternoon, December 20, 2021. She was a resident of Reelfoot Nursing Home in Tiptonville, TN.
Barbara was born to Earl Voyles and Clara Hunsucker Voyles on April 3, 1942, in Winborn, TN. She married the love of her life, Allen “Nash” Waddell, in Stanton, TN on April 9, 1958. Together, they made their home in Hernando, MS, where they raised their four children, Carolyn, Teresa (Terri), Lisa and Ray.
Barbara was employed at Green Duck in Hernando, MS, and Igloo Products in Hernando, MS, for many years. She made her home in Southaven, MS, after the passing of her husband, Nash. Barbara was a member of First Baptist Church of Nesbit, and loved spending time with her family and church, even while fighting her battle with Alzheimer.
Barbara was a wonderful cook, loved St. Jude, camping at Sardis Lake, working puzzles, attending church activities, movies, 50’s & 60’s music, traveling, and spending time with her family.
She was predeceased by her mother, Clara, her father, Earl, husband of 48 years, Nash Waddell, daughter, Carolyn Waddell, daughter, Lisa Waddell Carmody and her brother, Jerry Voyles.
She leaves behind her son, Ray Waddell (Kelly) of Southaven, MS, where she resided until her later stages of Alzheimer, and her daughter, Terri Waddell Sutton (Mike) of Repton, Alabama. She also leaves her niece, Mary Ann Werkhoven-Stanley of Nesbit, MS and Beverly Strickland of Brownsville, TN, brothers W.R. Gandy, Bobby Voyles, Allen Wayne Voyles, and sisters, Pam Moore and Brenda Boatwright.
Barbara, affectionately known as “Nanny”, also leaves 10 grandchildren, Chris Brewington, Kelli Parker, Karli Pullen, Aimee Johnson, Melissa Unbehagen, Allen Manues, Lyndee Miller, Jonathan Miller, Caleb Waddell and Khloee White, and many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren!
The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 26, 2021 at First Baptist Church of Nesbit, from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 27, 2021 at First Baptist Church of Nesbit at 10:00 a.m., with burial directly after at Hernando Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials may be arranged through Hernando Funeral Home, to be sent to First Baptist Church of Nesbit. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Nanny to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in honor of her grandson, Caleb.
