Cleveland “Larry” Alverson (72) died from complications due to COVID-19, at Mississippi State Veterans Home in Oxford, MS. He was born September 1, 1948, in Russellville, AR, the son of Cleveland Nelson and Dorothy (Lewis) Alverson.
Larry served in the U.S. Army in Thailand during the Vietnam War. After the military, he went on to have a successful career. He was a jack of all trades. However, he spent most of his career in medical device sales. The most important accomplishment, was his love for God and family. He always spent time serving in church and going on mission trips in the states and abroad. His knowledge, wisdom, and faith will truly be missed.
Larry will forever be remembered by his wife, Barbara. He married, Barbara (Williams) Alverson on July 25, 1985 and spent 35 wonderful years together, raising 6 children.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters from Arkansas. He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Williams) Alverson, daughters Tonia Alverson Griffin, Drummonds, TN , Babette (Tom) Riedmueller, Austin, TX, Kateri (Carey) Bryant, Hernando, MS, Stephanie (Derek) Williams, Fort Worth, TX. Two sons, Brock Alan (Crystal) Alverson, Oakland, TN, Thomas E. (Connie) Watts, Austin, TX, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Per Larry’s request, he will be cremated. A memorial service will be announced by the family at a later time. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be missed by everyone that knew him. It is requested any memorials be made to the Alzheimers Association.
