Obituary for Edward Rowell Stanley

MSG Edward R. Stanley, US Army (retired), 88, of Horn Lake, MS, died on January 2, 2023 surrounded by family in the comfort of his home. MSG Stanley served our country in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. After retirement from the Army, he was employed by the JROTC Department of Shelby County Schools, where he served as Senior Army Instructor at Whitehaven High School and the JROTC Department Chief of Logistics. His military awards and decorations include the Bronze Star for Meritorious Achievement, The Army Commendation Medal, The Army Outstanding Civilian Service Medal, and the Combat Infantry Badge. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution and the Fifth Regimental Combat Team Association. In his leisure time, he enjoyed model aviation, marksmanship, and spending hours with family and a book. MSG Stanley, the husband of Mun Cha Kim Stanley, also leaves a daughter, Lisa Johns (Roger, husband) of Memphis, TN, a son, Edward Rowell Stanley III (Kara, wife) of Rogersville, TN, and granddaughters Evie Victoria Johns of Memphis, TN and Lucy Jane Millett Stanley of Rogersville, TN. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The family will be receiving friends from 9-10 am Friday, January 6th, 2022 with services beginning at 10 am.
