Obituary for Elzie L. Ellis

Elzie Lynn Ellis, age 72, of Southaven, MS was called to his Heavenly home on December 5th, 2022. He was born on February 5th, 1950 to Oliver Patrick (O.P.) and Mary Gladys Ellis.
Elzie loved making music throughout his life from playing gigs with his band to teaching and passing down his love for music to his children and grandchildren. He also loved history and traveling. He cherished making new memories with his family while exploring new places and their fun facts. He was nicknamed ‘The Family Weatherman’ for preparing everyone for what the weather would be in their separate locations almost daily.
Elzie was a big fan of western films, most specifically John Wayne films. You almost always could find him wearing his cowboy hat. He was quick-witted and always had a funny reference or joke in his back pocket ready for the perfect landing. Most importantly, he loved his Jesus. He was a strong man of God and is rejoicing at his reunion with his Lord and Savior.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Charles Ellis, Mary Pat Hudnall, Doyle Ellis, and Joan Blackburn.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years Nancy; their children, Stephen (Mendy), Jason (Michelle), and Jennifer (Justin); his grandchildren, Alexas (Chasity), Ethan, Sam, Maci, and Mattie; his great-grandson Taj; and his brother Conrad (Connie). He also has several extended family members that will miss him dearly.
