Obituary for Gerald Edward Davis

Gerald E Davis went to be with our Lord and Savior at the age of 82 in the early morning hours of January 5. He leaves behind his wife of 59 years Janette (Ruby) Davis whom he adored, two sons Eddie Davis (Tami), Steve Davis (Wendy), six grandsons James Davis (Jackie) Joey Davis (Alicia) Jeremy Davis (Sara) Justin Davis (Danielle) Caleb Davis, and Kyle Lee, 12 great grands and his pup Rosie. Born in Memphis TN and raised in Horn Lake, MS he was a member of First Baptist Church Horn Lake MS since childhood. Gerald spent a lot of time outdoors, hunting and fishing was a passion although the occasional barefoot walk along a pond gigging frogs wasn’t out of the ordinary. He loved sunsets on the lake with family also. After graduating Horn Lake High School in 1957, he enlisted in the United States Air Force serving a full tour, where he spent time at Eglin Air Force Base and Del Rio, TX before being stationed in Morocco towards the end of the Cuban Missile Crisis. After his honorable discharge he worked as a Flight Service Weather Specialist for the FAA. This took him to North Carolina, Knoxville, TN, and Jackson, MS before making his way back to Memphis International. It was then he found his plot of land where he wanted to build his house and raise his family. With his fathers help and a host of friends he built his home with his bare hands to which was a place so many memories were made. After retiring from the FAA he worked for a contractor at Memphis International under the same title for another 15 years. Gerald was a Free Mason Horn Lake Lodge No. 617 F.&A.M which he was very proud of. He was preceded in death by his Parents Edward and Irene Davis, and Daughter in Law Debbie Davis.

Graveside service will be held at 10am January 8th at Edmondson Cemetery in Southaven MS. Flowers can be sent to Hernando Funeral Home before 5pm Friday.
