Obituary for Glenda Charlotte Sorrell

Glenda Charlotte Sorrell, age 84, a resident of Desoto County, passed away on Saturday October 22nd, 2022.
Glenda was born in and graduated high school in Hayti, MO. She played the Trumpet and French Horn and was a Majorite during marching season for the Hayti High School Marching Band. After graduation she was a mother, housekeeper, budget minder, home room volunteer, school nurse, Brownie & Girl Scout volunteer and chaperoned teenagers until they could drive.
She was always around for anything that her children needed. She doctored skinned knees, wiped away tears and imparted wisdom to broken hearts. She kept an impeccable house and was an excellent steward of money.
She kept her family together and made room for the family’s friends and cast of characters over the year’s always having room for one more.
Having always wanted to be a nurse growing up in the 80’s she put herself through LPN school and worked at 25 years and retired from Oakville HealthCare Center without ever taking a day of sick leave.
She is survived by her Husband Jerry Sorrell, 2 Daughters Tamme Burns and Kelley Trejo, 1 Sister Jean Dickerson, 3 Grandchildren Dylan, Jasmine, and Jacob, and 2 Great-grandchildren Elana and Zachary.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father Emery and Audie and Grandson Joshua.
Visitation hours will take place at Hernando Funeral Home on Monday October 24th from 5:00 to 7:00.
Gravesides Services and burial will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery South at 2545 E Holmes Rd. Memphis, TN 38118 at 10 am, Tuesday, October 25th.
