Obituary for Hannah Jo Halsted

Hannah Jo Halsted, 29, passed peacefully in her sleep on October 2, 2023. Hannah was born April 8, 1994, in Carmichael, CA, to Chris and June Halsted. Even though she was born in California, she spent most of her life in Hernando, MS, where she graduated high school. After high school, Hannah attended Arkansas State University studying Athletic Training. While studying, she worked with many of the sports teams including the football team. Also, while in Jonesboro, she worked as a preschool teacher and youth group leader for the First Presbyterian Church of Jonesboro. There, she found a home away from home.

During the summers, Hannah was a camp counselor at Hopewell Camp and Conference Center in Oxford, MS. She also served during summers as a Small Group Leader, a Recreation Leader, and most recently as the Co-Director in 2023 of the Montreat Middle School Retreat for the Montreat Conference Center based in North Carolina.

Hannah was a Pharmacy Technician at Walgreens in Hernando, Highland Hills Hospital in Senatobia, and most recently at Methodist University Hospital in the Medication Records department. While at Highland Hills, she helped open the Women’s Center by painting a mural for breast cancer awareness there.

Hannah was proceeded in death by her paternal grandparents, Brenda Jones and Jay Halsted, and her maternal grandfather, Joseph Golden. She leaves behind her parents, Chris and June Halsted; brother Jesse Halsted; maternal grandparents, Don and Linda Buchannon of Citrus Heights, CA; aunts and uncles Kevin Halsted of Sacramento, CA, Georgette and Carl Stokes of Germany, Helen and Rob Kashow of Citrus Heights, CA and Mitchell Sinerius of Sacramento, CA; as well as many cherished friends.

Hannah loved people and Jesus, which was obvious from where she spent her time, who she spent it with, and the way she loved and ministered to all. Hannah was a truly selfless person and a great friend. She leaves a great void in many hearts. She was strong in her faith, and we know we will see her again in Heaven.

In lieu of flowers, send gifts in memory of Hannah to the Montreat Conference Center. They will be designated to middle school conference scholarships. Online giving is available at http://montreat.org/MemorialGiving or checks may be mailed to:
