Obituary for Jay Thomas Turpin

Jay Thomas Turpin, 31, a resident of Oxford,MS, passed away on May 6th, 2023.

Jay started his life in Hernando, Mississippi, a town that has always been close to his heart. In second grade his family moved to Cabot, Arkansas. Growing up he excelled in football, baseball, and theater. He was fluent in German, accomplished in playing guitar and singing, and loved participating in living history events.

Jay then went on to the University of Central Arkansas where he studied history and met life long friends in the Sig Ep Fraternity. After college, he started working with the National Park Service and became an accomplished orator of American History. His final accomplishment was to be starting a new adventure with his girlfriend Merideth, by getting a coveted position with the National Park Service in Washington, DC at the National Mall.

Jay’s quick wit and good nature made him the life of the party amongst many groups and any situation. He loved his family and friends fiercely and he will be so deeply missed.

Jay is survived by his father and mother Dr. Thomas L.Turpin Jr and Janet J. Turpin, his sisters Mary Renaudin (Will) and Lauren Monjeau (Derek), two nieces Madyson and Peyton Trueblood and one nephew Shepard Monjeau. He also leaves his long time girlfriend Merideth Molnaird along with multiple Uncles, Aunts, cousins & friends.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Harry & Penny Johnson, his paternal grandparents Dr. Thomas L. Turpin Sr. & Nadine Lindstrand Segebarth and his Aunt Tracy Turpin Young.

Visitation will take place at Hernando Funeral Home from 9:00 -10am on May 11th, 2023 preceding services at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Hernando Memorial Park Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers please make donations to Shiloh National Military Park provide interpretive and educational programs for future visitors.
