JoAnn B. Gooch, wife of Steve Gooch, also known as Jo, Granny Jo, Nanny and Grammy by her grandchildren, and Sprout by numerous band students, passed from this life on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, in the arms of her grandsons at home. She and her husband Steve would have been married 60 years October 14th. JoAnn was born July 20, 1939, in Cleveland, MS, to Joseph Ritchie Barber and Annie Rupane Sherron Barber. She attended Hernando schools and Northwest Community College. She worked for International Harvester, was a substitute teacher and worked for the Department of Defense. JoAnn was active in band boosters and the Hernando Church of Christ. She leaves behind her husband, Steve Gooch, three children, Paul Wayne Gooch, Sr. (Gaye), Susan Gooch Harris (Richard), and Carl Gooch (Cricket). She leaves behind numerous grandchildren and great children. JoAnn devoted her life to raising her children, loving her family, and serving others. Her sweet and spicy personality will be forever missed. We love you always and forever mother. Donations to St. Jude Children's Hospital or Sardis Lake Christian Camp are appreciated.


The family will be receiving friends Saturday, October 2, at 10 am with a service to follow at 11 am all at Hernando Church of Christ. Interment to follow at Hernando Memorial Park.
