Obituary for Jodie "Joe" Clampitt

Jodie “Joe” Clampitt, of Hernando, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend passed away at his home Saturday, March 20, 2021, at 93 with his family by his side. He was a member of Parkway Baptist Church and one of his most important commitments in life was serving the Lord and helping others. Joe loved the outdoors, he enjoyed his vegetable gardens but most of all he loved giving those vegetables to his friends. He was a retired welder and a mason where he was a member of Hernando Lodge #51. Joe also was a veteran serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. Joe always greeted you with a smile, his love for his Lord, family and friends never wavered, he truly had a servant’s heart. He is survived by his loving wife of seventy three years, Alice Clampitt of Hernando; son, Rodney Prince (Robin) of Hernando; grandchildren, Joey Prince (Teresa) and Roxie Gunn (Brandon); great grandchildren, Bobby Gunn, Trace Prince, Parker Gunn, Brylee Gunn, Taylor Harper and Bryce Gunn and great great grandchild, Tucker. Joe was preceded in death his parents, Joda and Mary Clampitt and siblings, Walter Thompson, Anderson Thompson, Myrtle Thompson Sanders, Annie Sue Thompson Prince, Vernice Clampitt Brown and Mary Clampitt. Service will be 2 pm, Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at Parkway Baptist Church in Hernando, the family will receive friends beginning at 1 pm. Interment will follow at Hernando Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in his honor.
