Obituary for Karethae Compton
Born August 15, 1941, in Oneida, Tennessee
Died in Hernando, Mississippi on July 23, 2022 at the age 80.
Graveside services will be held for family and close friends at Sexton Memorial Cemetery, 456 Phillips Flats Rd, Oneida, TN 37841 on August 6, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. EDT.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Memory of Karethae Compton. (Notification Information: Family of Karethae Compton, P.O. Box 720873, Byram, MS 39272)
Karethae was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Compton; her parents, Alonzo and Grace Ellis; her sisters, Jean Gaskins and Cletus Pierce; and her brother Venis Ellis.
Karethae is survived by her children, Frank Compton, II (wife, Melissa), Robert Compton (wife, Sarah), Monte Compton (wife, Becky) and Kim Compton-Prem (husband, Chris); her nine grandchildren, Bryan, Victoria, Briar, Madison, Alexis, Hayden, Stella, Vivian and Frank, III; and her brother, Dennis Ellis.
Karethae had a smile that would brighten the darkest day and she was loved by all who met her. Karethae never met a stranger and would strike up a conversation with anyone at any time. She liked to shop a little too much and also enjoyed the casinos just a little too much – but she lived life her way and made no apologies for it. In the end, this cruel disease called Alzheimer’s took our beloved Mom from us way before the grave did. In hindsight, we admire her for living life her way. She enjoyed every minute she could until Alzheimer’s took over. We could take a page out of her book and live unapologetically as long as we are doing no harm to others. I would like to express special thanks to Monte and Becky Compton for taking such good care of our Mom when Alzheimer’s took over. I know Dad would be proud of how you stepped up and cared for her.
