Obituary for Katherine Ann Church
Katherine Ann Church, 86, passed away peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her family on Wednesday, June 9, 2021. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 12th at 10 AM at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Hernando, Mississippi. Graveside services to follow at Goodrum Memorial Cemetery. Hernando funeral home is entrusted with the arrangements.
Kathy, also affectionately called “Go-Go” by those who loved her was born June 1, 1935 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin to Louis and Doris Keppler. Kathy spent many years raising her family in Texas in the Dallas/ Ft. Worth area.
She moved to Hernando, Mississippi in 2015 to be closer to family. She spent her final years at Wesley Meadows Retirement Community. Kathy was an advocate of adventure, friendship and spiritual discovery. From serving meals on wheels, becoming a cheerleading in her 80s, bold fashion choices, making new friends, and exploring; she was truly always on the go awaiting the next adventure! She was also affectionately nicknamed, “Chatty Kathy” as she had the gift of gab. She always made people feel welcomed and loved.
She was a valued friend, mother and grandmother. She was a devote Christian and loved the Lord and walked closely with her Savior. Kathy is survived by her children Michelle (Tommy) McFarland, John (Robin) Mahon, Laura (Robert) Garrett and Sherry (David) Peasner. Her grandchildren Mandy (Chris) Jones, Niki (David) Flanagan and Josh Mahon. Kathy was also very proud of her five great grandchildren Emma Kate, Reid, Topher, Mary Abbott and Andrew. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Robert E. Church. Because of her love of Wesley Meadows Retirement Community, the family requests that any memorials be made to the new Maddox Green House facility at Wesley Meadows.
