Obituary for Len Frayser

Len’s story began on March 4, 1939. His life was grounded and built through a time where work ethic, genuineness, and heart were greater than monetary value. These were the building blocks to the foundation that made the real McCoys stand apart from the pack and this is where Len led the race.
Born into a sharecropper family in Arkabutla, Mississippi, he was the oldest of four boys. Len learned early on what it would take to fill the role and wear the title of first born. His life was hard but simple. He learned how to live out the definition of being content with the little he had. Work began at a very young age, in fact, it was the daily chores required with country living in the 40’s and 50’s that began the story of work ethic being a part of his identity. It was this thread that reveals one of the major passions that connected his heart to his hands and would continue throughout his entire life. Helping someone in need became his lifelong ministry. He was never too busy to help. There was no need too big or too small and nothing was unrepairable.
Len’s family would eventually move to Memphis, Tennessee and he would graduate from Whitehaven High School in 1958. This was a time when he learned he also had a passion for motorcycles, Fords and a crew of friends who would remain the rest of his life. In January 1962, at the age of 23, Len met Sandra Montgomery at Graceland. They would later marry on October 23, 1964, and go on to celebrate a beautiful marriage of 58 years. Len was a family man. His wife, three children and their families became his cornerstone.
Spending time with family, listening to country and gospel music, fishing, working in the shop, gardening, telling stories of the good ole days, yard sales, hearing a good joke, being a prankster are just a few of the things that brought him great joy.
Len was, most importantly, a man who lived out his faith with action and had the spiritual gift of serving others. He lived by example. He lived life to the fullest. He loved hard and unconditionally. All who have known him would agree that he has left an impression of faith, hope, and love on this world. We are all better because of knowing him. He will be greatly missed.
