Obituary for Linda Kay Kilgore

Linda Kay Kilgore passed away peacefully in her home on March 11th after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Linda was born January 15, 1943 in Miami, Oklahoma. She was 80 years old. She is preceded in death by her beloved parents Bill and Louise Jarnagin.
Until her health condition made it impossible, Linda loved all life had to offer. She enjoyed anything outdoors such as walking, swimming, a picnic or counting down the sunset at the beach! She was an avid reader and loved movies, going out to eat, attending social events and traveling to new places. She was able to visit many places in the continental states as well as Hawaii, Mexico, the Bahamas and Vancouver British Columbia. Her favorite, however, was a yearly trip to SanDestin, Florida. Most important to her was time spent with her family and lifelong friends. She was the heart and soul of our family.
After attending business school Linda worked in downtown Memphis for few years. She retired from Alumax Extrusions as the Human Resources Manager after a decades long career at the company. She was also an active member of the Desoto Literary Council.
Linda was a devoted wife to Rodney Wayne Kilgore for 61 years. She was the wholehearted, unconditionally loving mother to two daughters Christy Covington (Paul), Connie Wulff (Kevin), one son Kelly Kilgore (Malinda) and one stepdaughter Phyllis White. She was also the affectionate, doting grandmother to seven grandchildren (Lauren, Allyson, Eric, Harrison, Lucy, Jake and Nathaniel) and five great grandchildren (Tobie, Gabe, Granger, Tinley and Lathan).
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 19th from 12:00 to 2:00 with a service immediately following at Hernando Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family requests Alzheimer’s Association donations on the Linda Kay Kilgore Tribute Page in hopes of one day finding a cure for this devastating disease.
