Obituary

Lona Faye Miles 86, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed away at her home in Hernando on December 12, 2020. She learned to drive when she was 38 years old, before learning to drive she would walk 2 miles to the store and two miles back home with her four kids in tow. At 39 she went back to school and got a nursing aids degree and worked for 25 years for Baptist Hospital before retiring. After retirement she traveled over the road with her husband John in their eighteen-wheeler. Lona loved shopping, getting her hair done weekly and enjoyed every moment she could with her grandchildren. She loved all her animal’s past and present and will be dearly missed by her furry companion, Dizzy. Lona is survived by her husband of sixty three years, John Miles of Hernando, daughters, Debbie Mason (Terry) of Hernando, Cindy Anderson (Ron) of Potts Camp and Christine Ball (Mike) of Southaven; son, John Miles (Woody) of Byhalia; sister, Wanda Dyer; brother, Kenny Bowman; grandchildren, Mikey Dyer, Randy Dyer, Andrea Bridges, Amanda Pipkin, Heather Sanders and Joseph Ball; great grandchildren, Kayla Dyer, Will Dyer, Layla Dyer, Waylon Dyer, Caden Bridges, Kaitlynn Bridges, Colton Holmes, Logan Holmes, Rylynn “Beany” Sanders and her newborn grandson whom she asked about often, Mason Dyer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Lona Emily Bowman and brothers, Clark Bowman and Lonnie Bowman. Graveside service will be 2 pm Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at Hernando Memorial Park Cemetery. Lona’s family wants to thank her family, friends, wonderful neighbors and special thanks to Encompass Hospice for all they did during her care.
