Obituary for Sandra Louise Morris

Sandra Louise Morris, 73, passed away surrounded by her family on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at her home in Nesbit, MS. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at a later date.
Sandra was born to Raymond and Mary Sue Archer on September 10th of 1950 in Memphis, Tennessee. She was a member of Nesbit Church of Christ and the Women’s American Legion Association. She had any and everything to do with Veteran’s, Foreign Wars, and any volunteer opportunities that involved the United States of America Military. She volunteered for the Desoto County Sheriff’s Department, and the Income Tax Service to provide guidance to those in need of help filing taxes. She was employed through the IRS for many years and was a very dedicated to her job. Sandra would attend continuing education classes to stay on top of Tax changes and stipulations to better serve those who needed her assistance. Her family will tell you that she never needed a calculator when doing their taxes as she was just that skilled when it came to the work she did.
Sandra wore many hats to those she encountered. To herself, she would have better liked to be known as “Aunt Sam” after “Uncle Sam” of the United States. She decided since her initials worked perfectly, and she was a woman, then she must be “Aunt Sam”. Her passion for the country and patriotism sure made her a valid candidate. To those in her American Legion Association, she was known as “Dove” for her outpouring gifts, and project packages she routinely sent to soldiers stationed overseas. She loved and cherished anything that showed the symbol of the American Flag and was proud to not only support those who served, but to serve those who did make the ultimate sacrifice. And to her family, Sandra served as a loving mother and sister. She was caring, smart, fun, and more importantly, would do anything for those around her. Sandra will be deeply missed by all those who cherished her the most.
Sandra is survived by her two sisters, Beverly Miles and Peggy Crouch of Como, MS; and her niece, Sharon Raiteri. She was greeted in heaven by her son, Joe Roy Morris, Jr; her parents; and her brother, John W. Archer.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Nesbit Church of Christ or to any organization of your choice in honor of her memory.
Hernando Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family of Ms. Sandra Louise Morris.
