Obituary for Stephen Arnold Bryan

In my heart, I’ll always see you everywhere
Stephen A. Bryan September 5, 1937 – October 23, 2021
Steve was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. We will all miss him deeply.
Steve was at home with family when he was called to the Lord. He was proceeded in death by his parents, David and Violet Bryan, his brother Gene Bryan, nephew Shane Bryan and great granddaughter Langston Bryan. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Bonnie Bryan, sister-in-law Donna Bryan, son Clayton and Karen Rothe of Hutchinson, KS, daughter Tammy Bush of Colombia, MO, son Steve and Qixian Bryan of Midland, MI, son David and CaTina Bryan of Eudora, MS, daughter Brenda Bryan and Charlene Milton of Eudora, MS, daughter Pam and Kevin Fowler of Richland, KS and son Jason Bryan and Amy Lentz of Coldwater, MS and 19 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Steve grew up in Ottawa, Kansas. His parents were David and Violet Bryan. After graduation, Steve enlisted into the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and served his country with valor and honor. His flight crew was one of the first to take off and land an F-4 Phantom from an aircraft carrier.
After the Navy, Steve began a career as an Aeronautical Engineer working for Boeing and Lockhead Martin. During this time, Steve witnessed monkeys being launched down range in the Mercury-Atlas capsule and rocket, was on the flight deck design team for the Apollo and Gemini Space Craft and also for the Boeing 707 and 727.
Also during this time, Steve became an avid drag racer. He raced his short rod dragster, the “Wild Child”, in numerous NHRA events. Besting the likes of Don “Big Daddy” Gartlits and Shirley Muldowney before they moved into Top Fuel.
Memorial Service will be held Saturday, November 6, 2021 at 4pm at 4850 Hawaii Cove, Hernando MS.
