Obituary for William Truman Jarrett

William Truman “Unkie” Jarrett loved spending time and talking on the phone with his family and numerous friends. He loved to travel, take long walks and throw the hedgehog with his beloved dog friend Piper (especially shoe horn squeeky).
Everyone had a nickname to make you feel special and unique. Rich Nephew, Dumplin, Cupcake, Blondie, nephew, niece and this even included Piper whom he loved and adored and nicknamed Hot Rod. He always had time to laugh and talk even when he was “fizzled out”.
He was very generous with donating to all different kinds of charities. His giving ways blessed so many. He would give to others even if he had to do without something he wanted.
You could never really have a quick conversation with Truman. He was interested in everyone and loved sharing time with them talking about the daily news. He lived in Holly Springs, Corinth and recently Hernando and made so many friends wherever he lived. Whether it was his next door neighbor or the cashier at Dollar General. Truman had so many special friends that he talked about and / or to on a daily basis. Sandra, Rudy, Terry, Costella, Betty Neil, Martha and so many others held a special place in his heart and he always enjoyed the conversations and times he spent with them. He enjoyed receiving cards from all over the world from his nephew Marvin. We’re sure he was greeted in heaven by his family members and special friends that went before him.
He never forgot a date or a detail. He was the “go to guy” for specifics and directions. He remembered every birthday, restaurant, or hotel he visited and other details about people and times in his life.
He worked as an insurance agent and later became an apartment manager.
He was always on time and never late wherever he went. His family gave him the nickname “Rich Uncle” which he always laughed off and said only in Love!
Truman always put God first and readily shared his knowledge with those around him. He read his Bible and devotionals daily and was always watching Pastors from around the country on his phone. His love for the Lord showed in everything he did.
He is survived by sister Betty Kiefer and her husband David, brother Emmett Jarrett and late wife Sadie, brother Billy Joe Jarrett and late wife Elaine. He was preceded in death by his Parents Ruby Mae Jarrett and Emmett Jarrett, Sister Annie Dale Cook and Cathy Jarrett. He shared a home here in Hernando with his niece Tracy Ford and her husband Phillip Ford and spent so many hours with his great nieces Chelsea Sparks and Anna Ford. He had 11 nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Thursday, January 13th, 12pm until service time at 2pm all at Hernando Funeral Home.
