Obituary for William D. Sluder

William David Sluder, of Southaven, passed away at the age of 67 on June 26, 2022 at Baptist Memorial Hospital due to complications with multiple myeloma. David fought a courageous battle with cancer for eleven years. He died peacefully surrounded by his family and loved ones.
David is survived by his wife of 20 years, Madelene Sluder; his mother, Herma Sluder (Siemsen); his two sons, David, Jr. [Vanessa] and Kip Sluder; three step-sons, seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. David is also survived by his brother, Norman [Pam] Sluder. He was preceded in death by his father Cornell Sluder and his brother Fred Sluder.
David was born in Cabool, Missouri on June 6, 1955. He traveled the country as a truck driver for CF and then Yellow Freight. After over 30 years of driving, he retired in 2009. David was an avid bird watcher. He enjoyed reading about and looking for birds. This was a hobby he shared with his grandchildren. He also built a birdhouse and feeder in his backyard where he spent many hours in his garden growing fruits and vegetables.
Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Thursday, June 30 at the Hernando Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1pm to 2pm with the funeral following at 2pm. The family asks that any memorials be sent to St. Jude Research Hospital.
