Obituary for William Lee Wood
William Lee Wood, 49, of Hernando, MS, passed away on Monday, December 13, 2021, at BMH Memphis in the heart transplant unit, CVICU. He was a member of Longview Heights Baptist Church and a former law enforcement agent for the MS Gaming Commission in Tunica, MS. William was a graduate of Hernando High School, formerly attended Mississippi State University, and was a graduate of MDCC Law Enforcement Training Academy Moorehead. He was preceded in death by Eulo Loyd (step-father), Martha Riley (step-sister), Pat Dunaway (step-sister), and all paternal and maternal grandparents.
William is survived by his wife Jennifer Rhodes Wood, and his daughter Faith Nichole Wood. He is also survived by his mother Peggie Loyd, his father Gene Wood (Sarah), his sister Theresia "Shelly" Carver, his brothers Scotty Wood (Denisea) and Chris Wood (Jennifer), along with much-loved nieces, nephews, great-nieces/nephew, and many cousins and extended family.
The family will be receiving friends for visitation at Hernando Funeral Home, Wednesday, December 22, at 1:00 p.m. and will have a Celebration of Life Memorial Service to follow at 2:00 p.m.
Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to The Lupus Foundation of America or The Heart Foundation.
The family would appreciate guests speaking and sharing their memories of William. He always loved to share stories about his friends, family, and coworkers and the memories they made as he lived his life to its fullest and we believe this would be a wonderful way to honor his memory and a life well-lived.
